Winter woes

For some winter is fun and frolic; for a handful it heralds a whole lot of miseries.
Like an annual ritual we have started baking cakes as the year is closing and the new one is yet to begin. The daily dietary plans have also gone haywire. All the meal servings are accompanied by dollops of butter and ghee. Rupesh ( once upon a time ; a strict vegetarian) is savouring roasted chicken and grilled fish. He calls it 'evolution '. Oh my mine! Come what may, I can never provide him a company in this enriched endeavour.
Alas! He is also down with a not so serious cold. Days are ok but nights he has to spend coughing. How much I want to help him out? I have tried all dadi maa ke nuskhe ( adding Laung, illaichi, adrak, cinnamon, salt, honey, black pepper to tea in all possible combinations and permutations).
Our driver suggested munching roasted ginger whereas one Mrs Mishra suggested eating roasted cardamom with honey. My maid guaranteed success with tulsi leaves added to tea. Another neighbour brought roasted turmeric sticks for him. Whole lot of advices from all and sundry!

Mummy has recommended warm milk with Kali mirch at bed time for his nocturnal cough and tenacious sputum. She believes that these home remedies give promising results where the modern medicine fails.
Let us see...

For me nothing is more delicious than a cup of tea with ginger and tulsi.
What is driving me crazy is that the sole tulsi plant we have has dried. But yes I can see some green leaves in another pot which resemble tulsi but smells a bit different. Oh my god! My nose has also choked!
